Who is Hussain ?

The leader of the small band of men who were martyred in Kerbala was none other than Husain (A), son of Ali bin Abi Talib (A) and grandson of the Holy Prophet (S). Who was Husain? He was the son of Fatima (A) for whom the Holy Prophet (S) said, "Husain is from me and I am from Husain. May God love whoever loves Husain." [1]
The commemoration of Ashura on the 10th of Muharram every yearhttp://bayanbox.ir/view/4750920380230481409/Ashura-158.jpg serves to remind us of the sacrifices of the family of the Prophet (S). It also makes us aware of the people, then and now, who tried to destroy Islam and the family of the Prophet (S) and all that they stood for - as well as those who watched, listened and did nothing

Self-flagellation is forbidden (Haram) in Islam. Some great scholars such as Grand Ayatullah Khamenei who is the leader of Islamic Republic of Iran have prohibited any self-mutilation such as self-flagellation with knives or chains and even walking on fire

The above images were made from Imam Khamenei’s saying in 1994:

“Practicing Tatbir (i.e.self-flagellation) is one of the wrongdoings. I know that some people would say: “It was better for him not to mention Tatbir.” They would say: “Why do you bother with Tatbir? Some people do it, let them do!”. No! it’s not right to remain silent toward such a wrong action…

It is wrong that some people hold daggers and hit themselves on the head to bleed. What are they seeking?! How can this be an act of mourning?! Of course hitting on the head with one’s hands is a sign of mourning. You have seen it several times that when people face suffering, they hit on their chests and heads. This is a typical symbol of mourning. But where have you ever seen a person who is suffering from the loss of a dear one, hit on their head with a dagger and make it bleed?! How can this be an act of mourning?
Tatbir is a fabricated tradition. It is among the issues that does not belong to the religion and undoubtedly God is not also pleased with such a practice.
The more I thought about it, the more truly I realized I cannot overlook informing our dear people about Tatbir which is certainly an act of wrongdoing and a heresy. Do not practice it! I do not approve of it. If someone does something to pretend that they want to
practice Tatbir, I will be truly dissatisfied with them. I am declaring this solemnly.”

Ashura-Ruqayyah

Hazrat Ruqayyah (S.A) is the daughter of Imam Hussein (A.S) and one of the witnesses of Karbala tragedy who created a heroic event like other members of Ahl al-Bayt (S.A) with her martyrdom-like death. The name of her holiness that is in fact her title is derived from 'Raqi" meaning ascending and improving and her real name was Fatimah. The names 'Fatimah' and 'Ali' have special meanings for Imam Hussein (A.S). The historical books have referred to this fact that among children of Imam Hussein (A.S) there was a little girl named as Fatimah, and since Imam Hussein (A.S) loved his respected mother very much, he put the name of Fatimah on every daughter ever born. Similarly he named all his sons Ali as the sign of respect to his exalted father, Imam Ali (A.S).

Ashura

In Islam, saving human life and helping others against affliction are always enjoined. In the holy God says, “Whosoever saves a human life, saves the life of the whole mankind” [5: 32].

The holy prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussain (pbuh), is the one who gave his life to save the whole mankind. He saved Islam by his blood. He revive Islam, the last version of the religion sent by God to save the humanity.

Thus every year, Shi’ite Muslims across the globe donate blood on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain(PBUH) and all 72 of his companions on the day of Ashura.

تمام دار و ندارم همه فدای حسین (ع)
چه می شود که بمیرم شبی برای حسین (ع)
Why Imam Hussain pbuh is not forgotten?
The one whose martyrdom, grief, pain, sorrows and children's captivity were all only for God will never fade out of the memories. Instead, by the pace of time and age his love, fascination, and charm will grow in the hearts of people. And each year the love and fascination of the people with respect to that "pure and chaste revolutionary" increases. Imaam Hussain (A.S.) spent 57 years of his prolific life for the sake of God's love and God's search. Many times he traveled, to the God's house for pilgrimage, on foot. He was very fond of prayers confessions and supplication talking intimately. So far so, that on the last night of his life, he asked for respite only that he might sit all alone and make confessions and supplications, to his God.
One of his companions said about Arafat prayers and supplications of Imam Hussain (A.S.). On the 10th day of the month of Zil Hijj Imam Hussain (A.S.) stood in the burning and scorching desert of Arafat facing Holy Ka’bah and prayed with painful and aching heart,
